Zippy responds: Wow, you sure have a lot of exclamation points in your name! That’s really cool! Your folks haven’t slept in weeks, have they?

From: Sophie May
Hometown: Seattle
Message: Hi Zippy, Good news, Mom forgot to add the baking soda to today’s batch of oatmeal cookies. I am daring to hope for a cookie version of dog toast. I do believe I deserve it: I’m 15 and my little corgi legs can still get me up two flights of stairs to beg for them in the kitchen!

Zippy responds: You go, Sophie May! Have some dog oatmeal cookies for us!

Message: Hey Zip, holy cow my mom got a furminater and now I am half my original size and think I should go for a weigh-in. Pretty sleek looking if I may say so myself. I wanted to tell you that a picture of you in your bus costume showed up on some email the other day, some website of silly dog pictures. My mom got all excited “That’s Zippy!” The caption was “the driver of the bus goes woof woof woof”. Your bus legacy lives on! I hope you got royalties. Love,Izzy

Zippy responds: Hey, that’s pretty funny! Thanks for letting us know. You should also write a product review for the furminator.

Zippy responds: Treefrogs! Wow! I have never known anyone with pet treefrogs before.

From: Haley Oliver and Morgan
Message: Hi Zip, I know we said we would write in the Fall but sheez, we forgot summer! It has been very hot here the last few days and we northern Corgis haven’t had time to acclimitize. Needless to say we are “pooped pooches”. It’s ok though, Mum and Dad have tempered our activities so we don’t return from our outings too exhausted. The gardens are in for the season and Morgan has found an especially comfy nook under a Hosta in a corner of the flower bed. Dad is not amused at the stems Morgan has crushed in the process. He put a big rock there. :( Stay cool this summer zippo. (Well, your cool all the time!) Haley, Oliver and Morgan

From: Bis & Sis
Hometown: Arlington, VA
Message: Zippy!!! Yo! We have been checkin’ out your site for several years - still love it - especially the trip you take into space - way cool! How about some more cartoons? An 2009 spy cams would be fun, too - huh? huh? huh? will you do it? will you? please??? Sorry - our corginess got going there for a minute....later!
Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 11:48 am

Zippy responds: You are true Corgis, Bis and Sis, but for complete Corgi-begging effectiveness, be sure to add “Now? Now? How about now?” to any sentence that contains “huh? huh? huh?” My folks are somewhat amused that there is someone (anyone) who requests more of their cartoons. I have tried to explain that it’s the Corgi subject matter, not their animation skills, but sometimes you just have to roll your eyes and sigh.

Message: zippy, I am watching Animal Cops and i feel like ripping a pillow in half. I cannot beleive what some people do to their animals!!!! Right now, the team is emptying out a pit bull fighting rink. I think that pit bull fighting is so wrong and it makes me so angry. Not many people know that pit bulls are sweet, intelligent, and fiercely loyal animals that sadly have been bred to be vicious and aggressive and i think that its depressing that this beautiful dog has been turned into this kind of crap. As much as I wish that these dogs were still the sweet and gentle animals that they were originally bred to be, i know that most of them are unpredictable and its almost impossible to find a dog whos heritage has no fighting dogs in it. I feel so terrible as a human that some people have done this and still do this to animals. It makes me so depressed to see animal cruelty.

Zippy responds: Agreed, Fresno Ben. And a good reminder for folks to remember their local animal welfare society when they have some spare change.

Message: Hi Zip! Happy summer! I’m trying to talk my mom into getting a fenced in yard for me because i love to be outside more than anything and I don’t mind being tied up but if I had a fence I could find more stuff to do. I have learned how to roll around on my back in the grass but sometimes its hard to get upright again and this is a great source of amusement for my people. I am glad to have a purpose in life and I think I have lost a little weight. Hope you are well. Love,Izzy
Friday, May 22, 2009 at 11:51 am

Zippy responds: Yeah, a fenced-in yard is great! Tell your mom I said so! And I understand completely about the rolling. It’s like your center of gravity gets messed up, and you can’t figure out which way to go for the best momentum to return to an upright and standing position. And you look confused for a second or two, and everyone laughs. Good times.

Message: Hey Zip! How are things in the great U.S of A? We are heading into local elections here but we haven’t heard any political promises for Corgis. Naturally we’re boycotting the whole thing! Spring has been very late in arriving but at least it’s been dry. Dad got a new Harley and we take great joy in barking up a storm when he fires it up (That and the lawnmower). Something about gas motors that really gets us wound up! Talk to you in the Fall. Haley, Oliver and Morgan
Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Zippy responds: Hi guys! You know, we should be able to vote. We are pretty darn smart and know how to act in our best interests (usually). We should start a movement. Have fun this summer!

Message: Hi Zippy- I haven’t written for a long time. Too busy with all of my important corgi duties: perimeter patrol at least 8 times daily, garbage inspection, testing all the chairs, beds and couches for sleep safety, etc. I decided to give my two-leggers a break and go out in the rain for my morning and evening constitutionals; the only thing worse than listening to them gripe about taking me out in the rain is listening to them gripe about it if I don’t go outside in the rain, if you know what I mean! Why can’t they make up their minds??? Well, I hope you are well and enjoying some spring sunshine.
Monday, April 20, 2009 at 6:07 pm

Message: Hey Zippy, gosh I hope my people don’t get any ideas about taking me across country. I hate riding in the car. On another note, an update on whether or not I am fat, well I am because I was at the vet and he said so, and that I should weight in the 20’s and I am at 33 lbs. I’m sure he means upper 20s. Mom says more to love but we are going to work on it. ok, she is, i’m going to suffer. Hope you are well and happy. love, izzy
Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:42 am

Zippy responds: If you promise not to tell anyone, Izzy, I’ll let you in on a little secret. I used to be fat. Really pudgy. In the range of 40 pounds. Then my folks started, you know, paying attention to what I was eating, and I have been svelte ever since. You can do it!

Message: hey zip, we heard a pembroke won the herding category of a dog show yesterday but we don’t know anything more at this time. it was on tv. we rock! and, a cardigan took 3rd place. we think corgi’s aren’t really taken seriously as herding dogs and that’s why we rarely win a show. well now that i think about it we’re glad we’re not showdogs anyway. i had a big hunk of gum stuck on my paw pad yesterday and i got mad at my mom for trying to remove it because i was saving it for later. hope all is well with you zip! love, izzy
Monday, February 2, 2009 at 8:20 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Well, there’s another dog show next week, maybe we can show ’em who’s boss there. About that gum: In her very funny book What the Dogs Have Taught Me, Merrill Markoe explains to People that, to dogs, “Mouth size things which cannot be identified by sight or smell are considered gum.” So even if you lost yesterday'#8217;s gum, the possibilities for future gum are endless.

Message: mom and dad have just recently discovered your page. they sat and read it for hours. while this does take attention from me, i’m not mad at you at all because i needed my beauty rest anyway though your “paper doll” play thing seems to be giving them ideas... i’m looking for new hiding spots already. it’s been snowing for the last week here, we have at least a foot on the ground. dad always shovels me a path to go potty, but he obviously doesn’t understand how much fun bounding through the snow is (i can’t hold it against him, he was born with his long leg disability.) i love to play “tank” in the snow and use my sheer power to show the snow who’s boss. anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hi. i’m not very good at writing my inner thoughts but you seem to cover what i’m thinking in corgi-speak pretty well. keep on keepin on zippy. corgi’s unite! ~gizmo

Message: apologies for the tardy “seasons greetings” but dad went to jamaica and didn’t leave us the password for his personal confuser. (thats what we call it...) anyway, olivers ear thing cleared up, finally, then we found a growth on haley’s eyeball. (yuk) back to dr. debbie again... we were relieved when the biopsy came back negative, whew! morgan lost another tooth chasing sticks. his nickname now is “cletus the slack jawed corgi”... honestly, it’s been a real “vets christmas”. they say things happen in threes so, enough already! we hope your holiday seasaon went well and the new year has been better than ours weather wise. corgi legs may look endearing but they sure suck from a practical perspective. (as in when your in deep snow...) three long months to the next long weekend, sigh. keep well zip. until the spring. haley, oliver and morgan
