Here are some of Zippy’s friends who have stopped by over the years.

From: From: Roadie and his person Charles
Hometown: Millington, TN
Message: After having the pleasure of being had by two different Corgis in my life, when the time came I embraced the adventure once again, but this time got a tri-color (just like my pal Zippy). He is without a doubt the best friend I have ever had and I wonder how I ever made it to the age I am without him. Smart, loving, expressive AND@ age 2, he still has not shed !!!! Zippy (and people), thank you so much for your journal and site. I do have to admit though, both Roadie and I really miss your postings. Happy frapping wherever you are. Pets, wags and woofs from TN. Roadie and Charles

Zippy responds: Whaaaaaa? A shedless Corgi? I guess it is appropriate that such a wonder would be a gorgeous tri-color. All right! Have a happy butt-wag!

From: From: Oliver, Morgan and Bella
Hometown: North Vancouver, Canada
Message: Hi Zippy We are pleased to anounce the arrival of a new member of the family who Mum and Dad rescued from Washington State on Boxing Day. Her name is Bella and she is a Norwich Terrier. (we know, we know...she’s not a Corgi but she was in such a need of a home we overlooked the fact she had a tail!) We look forward to her leadership as Alpha female. Goodness knows how lost we have been without THAT!! Oliver and Morgan
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 3:41 pm

Zippy responds: Well, now, that is spectacular news! Congratulations, and welcome, Bella! Have a lick.

From: Roadie (and my person Charles)

Message: Zippy, Did you see the article on Oly the Pembroke? He was lost with his people in an avalanche and presumed dead, but dug himself out and made it back 4 miles through the snow to the motel he and his family had stayed at 4 days earlier. WOW!!!

Message: Hi Zippy, long time no hear! We are all well up here. We had a pretty crummy summer weather wise but the Fall was nice. With Christmas coming we expect the usual treats and doting over. How have you been? Oliver and Morgan
Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Zippy responds: Hi, guys! Always happy to hear from you! The ‘usual treats’ you speak of...does that inlude egg nog? ’Cause, egg nog, oh yeah, egg nog. Yeah.

From: Chester
Hometown: Salem, Oregon
Message: Hi Zippy! Since you clearly love your bus costume so much I was wondering if you had seen all these great corgi costumes too! http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/corgis-in-costumes I live in Oregon and am learning to do Flyball! I get to run and bark and fetch balls and act wild and crazy. I love it! I love your website too! Corgi Kisses, Chester
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 6:17 pm

Zippy responds: Yes! I did see the cavalcade of Corgi costumes! My folks were quite disappointed I was not included. I, however, was relieved to no end. Happy Flyball, Chester!

Message: Hello Zippy Oliver and Morgan’s Dad here... Well Zippy, I have to report there have been some subtle behavioral changes around here since Haley’s passing. There have been two serious scraps in the house for the first time ever! Dr. Debbie attributes it to a power struggle for top dog status in the pack. Now I have spoken to the boys and have forbade them any access to the computer until more civilized decorum prevails. So far so good although I can’t speak for what happens when we are at work. They ask to send their regards which I do here but in the meanwhile time outs and no treats for bad behavior are the themes of the day. Wish us luck. Honestly... what ‘guy’ behavior!! Oliver and Morgan’s Dad

Zippy responds: Aw, poor guys. Even we manly types have emotions. Just don’t always know what to do with ’em. Good thoughts to all!

Message: Zippy, Just to let you know that Piper (the Corgi humiliated in your link of the banana costume - posted by Zippy 10/12/2009) was well and truely compenstated by plenty of cookies and lemon bread. However, she has since convinced her little sister, Echo, that posing for the costumes is too fun to pass up. Good of her to share the joy.
Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12:15 pm

Zippy responds: OMG OMG OMG! Piper! Are you, like, famous? You are! You are a model! You are a Corgi model! That’s like the best thing in the world! This is too cool! I was thinking about heading down to Capitol Park to see if I could hook up with Sutter for a brush with celebrity, but then a real model wrote to me, and that’s just so much better! (Oh, hey, Corgi model, that's kind of funny. Because there are real Corgi models. Anyway.) Thanks so much for writing! Sorry about that banana thing. Do dog models walk down a cat walk? I’m so flustered right now.

Message: Hi Zippy, Last time I wrote, it was to report my 4th anniversary since cancer surgery. I now write you to report my 5th! My parents say I’m 122 years old in people years. Good Gravy, no wonder my back end can’t keep up with the front anymore! I still enjoy my home-cooked meals, though, and giving corgi kisses. Life is good. Best to you and yours, Sophie May

Message: Hello Zippy It is with heavy hearts we write to you with the news of our old Haley’s’ passing on Monday. Mum and Dad are pretty sad as are we. She was 15 years old. Mum and dad had a Scotch to toast her life and we were given Duck Jerky... it didn’t really taste that good for some reason. Sorry with the sad news from the north but we thought you’d like to know. We’ll write you later when we have our heads a little more together. Oliver and Morgan
Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 7:50 pm

Zippy responds: Oh, sad news indeed. Yes, you should celebrate the life of a good dog. Love and licks from everyone here.

Message: Hi Zippy! There is a blizzard going on in my home town whitch is one of the hottest cities in the U.S.! My corgis are enjoing it! Did you have any winter weather Zips?
Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Zippy responds: Strangely, our winter has been acting like spring. Not complaining or anything, but it is a definite contrast to what a lot of folks are getting. We do like snow...in reasonable amounts, of course!

From: Izzy
Hometown: North Carolina
Message: Zippy!! I have been so busy in my new locale I have been neglectful at keeping in touch. I am loving it here, the warmer weather and all the walks in the woods. Mom is happy that we haven’t been shot at yet, being as we never know whose woods we are in. Our little two dog family as turned into four, one a Corgi mix rescue from a shelter and then this big oaf of a dog turned up one day and of course we invited him in and he hasn’t left. I’m going to have to put my foot down if anyone else shows up. Hope all is well with you. Love, Izzy

Message: Merry Christmas Zippy! Glad you are taking messages again. Good news on the Oliver front. He is down 3 lbs.!! 2 to go.Have a safe holiday season and don’t eat any tinsel... bad stuff. We are off skiing soon, or as dad calls it, ‘the annual fall down and get injured trip’. Talk to you soon. Haley, Oliver and Morgan
Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Zippy responds: Way to go, Oliver! And tinsel? Of all the things I’ve ever thought to eat (and that is a significant list), tinsel has never been one of them. However, I agree: Don’t eat it!

Message: Hi Zippy!! hope youre doing well, i want to get a corgi couse i love them, im going to study to be a vet at el paso (i hope) and i love working with animals and animal behaivior, my question is, do you think you guys do well in an apartment? Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Zippy responds: Hi, Oguer! I always love car rides, but I have never stayed at a doggie day care, nor have I lived in an apartment, but I guess that would be okay as long as I got lots of walks, love and treats. I like treats. I promise not to bite you when you become a vet!

From: apgw511
Message: Hey Zips! School started for me so im kinda sad. But I had to take a test that tells what my grade equivilent is and I got H.S. on it!!! That means high school seniors and ABOVE!!!!! IM IN 8TH GRADE!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!y corgis are awesome as always and the fastest one, Ruthy, we now affectionally call ROCKET because she is the fastest ball chaser around! So how was your summer Zips?

Zippy responds: That is very awesome! Sometimes I wish I could go to school, it sounds like fun.

Message: Hi Zippy Summer is winding down here but you’d never know it. The fire hazards are extreme and we have been limited to trails only dare we set the forest ablaze! (don’t really know of any Corgis that have started a forest fire however...) Bad news for Oliver recently... he visited Doctor Debbies office for an official ’weigh off’ (after a heated debate between Mum and dad about how porky he was starting to look.) Well it turns out he’s gained 5 lbs!!! No wonder he was ‘doggin it’ on his walks... anyway, it looks like carrots only for treats for a while. Had to cut back on his meals too. Mum says he looks like a roly poly welsh sausage! Hope you’re still trim! We’ll keep you appraised of his reducing program. Haley, Oliver and Morgan
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:04 am

Zippy responds: Only carrots! Oh, Oliver, you have my sympathy. But hope it helps.

From: apgw511
Message: Hey Zippy! I just went to the surfing town of LA JOLLA!!!!! My corgis had to stay at home but my grandma was there so they got a fan, a cool resting place, walks and LOTS OF TREATS!!!!! I enjoyed my vacation too. Did you have a vacation this year Zippy?
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:04 am

Zippy responds: That sounds delightful! Our vacation is upcoming, so we have to content ourselves with having something to look forward to.

Message: Hi Zippy, two big things happened. One, I went to my first ever Corgi picnic and it was very fun, altho I tended to sort of stay off by myself, or by my mom, cuz i’m kinda shy and didn’t know anyone there. Second, I am going to be a North Carolina Corgi in just a couple weeks. We are moving there for awhile. I hope I don’t run into any bears in the mountains. Do they get snow there? I think the warmer winters will be good for certain humans that like to not take us out as much when its cold. Hope all is well with you and your family. Love, Izzy
Friday, July 30, 2010 at 12:48 pm

Zippy responds: That’s all kinds of excitement, Izzy! I don’t know about North Carolina, but we see bears when we go to Lake Tahoe. They have totally left us alone so far. I hope you enjoy your new locale.

From: Haley, Oliver and Morgan

Message: Hi Zippy. We were worried there for a while, it seems no one was writing you. The weather here has been awful all spring. We have been passing the time by eating. There is a new Corgi in the neighbourhood. His name is jack. The queen is also visiting Canada this week but she is not coming to the west coast. Don’t know what that’s all about... Anyway. We are going camping this long weekend. We spied dad packing the extra treats so it looks like the weekend is shaping up. Hope you are well. Talk to you soon. Haley, Oliver and Morgan
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 8:54 am

Zippy responds: Wow, camping, extra food, extra treats, the Queen, and a new Corgi neighbor! That is the life.

Message: Hi Zippy! I hope you are having a good summer. It’s been a while since I’ve written to you. I recently had surgery to remove a large tumor. I pulled through it like a trooper. I didn’t even have to wear a cone, only a baby T-shirt so that I couldn’t scratch my stitches with my back paws. Mom says I’m a very good girl and she’s very proud of me. I milked it for LOTS of treats --- SCORE!!! I’m hoping to get the okay from the vet to go to the lake and go swimming this weekend. Keep your paws crossed for me, Zippy.
Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 8:13 pm

Zippy responds: Paws crossed! Stuff like this is always scary, but swimming would be fun! And treats. Treats are always good.

Message: Hi Zippy, We are pleased to announce Haley turned 14 on march 11th! She sleeps most of the time now but she still manages a cheery bark and a few ‘rollie pollies’ when she gets up in the morning. (Dad says he hopes he can still do that when he’s in his 90’s!) She celebrated by having chicken jerky strips... (one of her favourites) She is a model to us all! Oliver and Morgan
Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10:19 am

Zippy responds: Happy birthday, Haley! Did you share your chicken jerky strips? It would be nice if you did, but perfectly understandable if you did not.

Message: Hey there Zippy! We have a new thing here - SNOW!!! And lots of it, too. We have so much our mom had to dig us a path so we can go out and do our duty. She laughs at our bunny butts - especially when we reverse because we don’t want to go down the steps... This is so cool (forgive the pun, OK?) This snow thing is great! Our mom can’t go anywhere and stays home with us. We get way more treats and snacks when she has to stay home so the more snow the better. Our mom told us that this year is the most snowiest of all the years in Arlington so far. Thay may be true but all we know is that we are happy about this snow stuff and hope we get more so she stays home longer. That’s all from us right now. Snow on! Bis ’n Sis

Message: Zippy, I am happy to report that I am celebrating my 4th anniversary since cancer surgery! Mom and Dad are going to throw me a Sweet 16 birthday party in May with plenty of corgi treats and friends. I must admit that I’m interested in corgi treats, and interested in friends, just as long as there’s not TOO much sharing of the corgi treats WiTH the friends. I’m sure you’ll be there partying with me in spirit! Yours in snackage, Sophie

Message: Zippy Mom and dad have three vac’s in our house. One for the furniture (Dirt devil Hand Vac with power head), one for everyday pick ups on hard surfaces (swiffer sweeper vac) and the regular vac for ‘super suck saturday’ (when the whole house is done.) Sounds a bit anal, we know, but it keeps the place clean. By the way, there are now 4 corgis at our house! The three of us and the one that lives in the vacuum... we call her ‘Filtre Queen’ :) Haley, Oliver and Morgan.
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 9:22 am

Zippy responds: So true, you guys! It is totally possible to build a spare Corgi out of the hair in the vacuum.

From: Missy
Hometown: Pennsylvania
Message: Vacuum cleaner update: Well, Mom zonked out during an info-mercial and a new vacuum soon appeared. I was quick to lay down the “ground rules” for this new competitor, “Any food on the floor is mine, everything else is yours.”
Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 5:26 am

Zippy responds: Oh, absolutely, that sounds totally fair!

From: Missy
Hometown: Pennsylvania
Message: I am a 7 year old Pembroke and need some advice. My Mom’s vacuum cleaner just died. Can your Mom recommend one that can clean up a mountain of corgi fur?
Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 6:00 am

Zippy responds: Ha, my folks are trying to figure out if vacuums are just made to be disposable these days or if having two dogs has something to do with it. At any rate, they seem to have very little skill in this department. Maybe someone else can weigh in!
