From: simon

Message: holy cow, a glimpse of the handsome zippy is a big deal, even a sliver of one!! as huge fans, we’ll take anything! daisy looks very cute too, zippying through the shot. thanks, and happy holidays!

Zippy responds: Yeah, note to my folks: Good for you for charging up the camera battery. Was that so hard?

From: izzy
Hometown: johnson creek
Message: hi zippy, i totally embarrassed myself last night. we have tons of snow and i decided to go off-road and i got stuck. seriously stuck. i was also down hill which didn’t help my situation. i had to be rescued. my best friend the cardigan has been here for a couple days and we have a blast in the snow. but sometimes the lack of legs is a problem. zippy and daisy and your folks, have a wonderful christmas and we hope you get everything on your list. love, izzy
Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 6:02 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Oh, Izzy, that’s just one of the perils of being a low-rider in a jacked-up world. Merry Christmas to you guys too!

From: cami and rider
Message: hi zip and daisy—my mom has a question. she has been reading about you every since cami was a baby and that was seven years ago. i know it’s not pc to ask, but how old are you “guys”. are you starting to feel the mid-aged aches and pains yet??
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 2:28 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: We are olde. We do keep canine aspirin on hand. Tasty!

From: toby
Message: zippy, my human will not play with me anymore. she loves the cats that live with me now. what do i do?
Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 6:31 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Oh, Toby, are you trying to make me cry? That is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard. But okay, here’s what you do. Go lie down directly in front of your human. Put your head on your paws. Raise your eyes. Just your eyes—this will impart an expression of extreme sadness and adorableness at the same time. Repeat until your human comes to her senses. Until that happens, you have my permission to eat the cats' food while no one is looking.

Message: yo..... i’m back! i told you about snickers, right? we have a barrel flower pot in our yard. so, recently, snickers jumped into the barrel (and it was a cold night here) and stayed there for about 30 minutes. when i went o get him from outside, he was i the barrel! mom was with me so she told him that he was a funny corgi and to get out of the barrel. it was so funny! p.s. i know you like bugs so i wanted to inform you that i got 2 new pets. and they’re bugs! skittles is very active and m&ms is always sleepy.

Message: hi zip, i know i just wrote but i wanted to let you know that my mom finally put a battery in our zippy clock. it has been stuck somewhere between snack and drool for quite some time. i don’t drool much but yeah, the snacking was great. love, izzy
Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 6:52 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: It should always be snack time!

Message: hi zip, oh my gosh those poodles. that is just not right. it gives me flashbacks to my traumatic trip to the groomer and that was just for a bath and brush. hope you had a good thanksgiving. we had our share! a lady at the dog park asked my mom if i was fat. i hope i don’t have to go on a diet, ever. i don’t think i’m fat just sturdily built as a corgi should be. love, izzy
Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 9:29 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Someone asked if you were fat? What interesting manners they have. On the upside, if they have to ask, the answer should be obvious.

From: haley, oliver and morgan
Hometown: north vancouver, canada
Message: fall greetings zip. the rains have once again returned so our outdoor “cavorts” have become seasonally subdued... sigh... oliver has something wrong with his ear and is most unhappy. he is going back to see dr. debbie, again, this afternoon. hopefuly he will stop shaking his head all the time, poor guy. morgan is still full of zooms and our dear deaf old haley still rules us with an iron paw. other than that atumn is progressing nicely. we watched the american elections with interest as our own canadian election was a real yawner, and as you know, we corgis are exceptional when it comes to yawning. (morgan can strech his toungue almost to the coffee table when he yawns!!!) will contact you with our christmas greeting next month. live well and prosper... (vulcan corgi saying)
Friday, November 7, 2008 at 9:29 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Hope Dr. Debbie cleared everything up and all of you are well.

Message: hi zippy, its izzy. i just decided to use my given name more because its more dignified and sophicated, don’t you think? i just found out i get to go trick or treating tonight! i think i’ll go as......a corgi, duh. a cardigan from milwaukee has an add on craigslist wanting to meet other corgis. is this like a corgi dating service? love, isabella aka izzy
Friday, October 31, 2008 at 8:46 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Oh, we would be so popular on a dating service! Enjoy your trick or treating, and congratulations on an acceptable costume. You given name is lovely, by the way.

From: barbara, with dylan and kiki
Hometown: frederick, md
Message: i tried to send this to your hooman, but couldnt find an address.... zippy, you are the cutest thing in the world! (along with dylan and kiki, of course) i have just started fused glass, and am asking if i can copy you in my glass.... for me, as gifts for select few, as a corgi aid fundraiser, or for limited sale.... what do you say? thanks, barbara
Monday, October 13, 2008 at 5:08 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: You’re right! I AM the cutest thing in the world! Okay, there are humans and then there are lawyers. And the lawyer ones say we have to protect our copyright, and that means we can’t tell you it’s okay to copy me (although it sounds like fun). The humans who aren’t lawyers have no idea how the lawyers would find out about a gift for a friend.

Message: hi zippy, i am not liking halloween so far because i am scared of the things people put on their lawns like skeletons and ghosts and such. but on a lighter note i met a new corgi at the dog park,he used to be a horse corgi but he was naughty to the horses so was given to a new owner and now he is my friend. corgi’s rule! love, izzy
Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 8:52 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: And those things on lawns that make noise! Awful! But glad you have a new friend! That’s always nice.

Message: hi zippy! a corgi dressed as a lobster? i don’t know, it looks more like a corgi busting out of a lobster’s stomach, a-la-alien. which, come to think of it, is a better costume. i was thinking, zippy...if you were pitted in an “i’ll eat that” against andrew zimmern (www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Bizarre_Foods)....i wonder who’d win? ps: have you ever read the online comic pooch cafe? i think you might enjoy it, in spite of the glaring lack of a corgi character.

Message: to cati the corgi,i sympathize. we are fostering 4 little kitties for the shelter and some days i just don’t know how much more i can deal with and have to share my attention with. but, some of them do know how to wrestle i just don’t like when they come by my food dish and i let them know it too, i bite their little heads. but not to hurt them just so they know to respect my food. at least these are only temporary so remind your folks they said no more and just herd-em-up!!! we do like the term dumplings.
Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 9:26 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: I like dumplings too. Oh, also the term.

From: cati the corgi
Hometown: middle tn
Message: you seem like a wise corgi zippy, i need your advice. my life started out just fine with just me and the cat as the only four leggers. the humans added another corgi, and that turned out ok, he’s fun to wrestle with. but now the humans have added two k-i-t-t-e-n-s! said they were “dumplings” i thought that meant food, but apparently it means they were dumped at our place without a home of their own. i am not to chase, herd, nip or otherwise annoy these “dumplings”, meanwhile they scamper about the place like they own it. should i treat these creatures like the dumplings they are, or should we join forces for the coup that the humans say they know is coming? for the record, the humans say that’s it as far as more animals go. thank goodness!
Monday, July 28, 2008 at 4:43 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Are the dumplings temporary or here to stay? If they are going to stick around, be aware that kittens will turn into cats in fairly short order, and you already seem to be able to get along with cats. I’d say you’re good! It’s nice to have so many playmates! (Although, you know, that coup idea sounds fascinating.)

From: izzy

Message: dear zippy, i think i speak for all your fans when i say that we get concerned when we don’t hear from you for a while!! we know you are not exactly a spring chicken. hope you are ok and just too busy having fun camping and stuff like that to write. miss you, izzy
Friday, July 25, 2008 at 11:21 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Izzy, you are so cute when you prod. Thanks.

From: tayler
Message: hey zippy! i love your site/blog! just one thing though- i know you love food, but ask your humans to keep grapes, tomatoes, and coffee beans away from you! i noticed that you wrote about eating them. they are very poisonous to dogs! grapes cause kidney failure, tomatoes cause tremors and heart arrhythmias, and anything coffee related causes seizures, comas, and sometimes death! i don’t mean to be a know-it-all or anything, i just thought you should know that for future reference. keep on being cute and awesome!
Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 10:13 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: You are quite right, Tayler. Thanks for getting the word out. To put your mind at ease, we only get little bitty bits of...well, any kind of people food. Most of the time I wish that wasn’t the case, but it really is.

From: patrisha
Message: hi zippy! you are the cutest ever! hugs and kisses and treats all the way from the philippines!
Friday, July 18, 2008 at 5:58 pm, Pacific Time

From: haley, oliver and morgan

Message: just a brief summer ‘catch up’ zip. haley, as it turns out, is losing her hearing. dr. debbie says it happens to the best of us corgis as we age. while she’s still pretty good with the high pitch stuff can you believe she doesn’t hear the can opener anymore!! whooa! the warm weather has finally arrived and we enjoy having the patio doors open as we sleep, letting in the cool night breezes. pastoral eh? we had a moment of silence out of respect to tasha tudor. mom often uses recipes from her corgi cook book. hope yopu are well. talk to you in the fall. haley, oliver and morgan
Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2:09 pm, Pacific Time
